Becoming rich and famous sounds exciting. But, what if I told you that becoming a star is so much more?

Imagine a dark room filled with quiet people. Some people are calm. Some are a little sad. Some are waiting for something interesting to happen. Then, from the center of the room, a small but bright light begins to shine. The light grows and grows until it fills the space. The light allows the people to see themselves and each other. The light makes them laugh, frightens them awake, and makes some cry tears of happiness. The light brings joy. When you are performing you are the light.

Being a performer is about sharing your light, your gift. Your work will make others feel, think, and experience life.

Being a star is about the happiness and excitement you feel when you share your talent with others. Even if you never become famous, your love of performing will always be there, lighting up your life and the lives of those who get to see you shine.

3 Objects

Act out your emotion 3 ways.

You can talk to the object or you can just make up the story about why you feel this way in your head. It’s your choice.

Choose 3 random objects in the room.

They can be handheld, an object you walk up to, or an object you think about.

Choose 1 emotion.

Examples: sad, happy, scared, excited, nervous, envy, or jealousy.

“So, you think you’re all that because you can stay cool even on the hottest days? Well, I can be cool too! I can be much cooler than you. [Dramatic pause] The truth is, I’m envious because I struggle to be cool sometimes. You make it look so easy.”
